Product Features of Quick-Open Manholes

Quick-opening manhole What are the product’s key features? Let’s take a brief look below. Typically, it is installed in large pull-top cans and containers used in industries such as dairy, brewing, beverage production, pharmaceuticals, and bioengineering. The application areas demand exceptionally high pressure resistance; therefore, selecting the appropriate grade and thickness of stainless steel for rapid piercing, along with ensuring the strength and sealing integrity of the piercing process itself, are critical technical considerations.

What is the function of a quick‑opening manhole? Let’s take a brief look. A quick‑opening manhole features a rapid‑release design, offering convenient operation, high safety, and an aesthetically pleasing, practical appearance. Typically, both the interior and exterior surfaces are finished with either mirror polishing or a matte finish; the mirror polish achieves a surface roughness (Ra) of greater than 0.8 µm or equal to 0.8 µm. Quick‑opening manholes are usually installed at the bottom or top of storage tanks and are often used in conjunction with fire‑prevention devices. This not only helps prevent tank damage and casualties caused by sudden pressure surges or vacuum conditions during accidents, but also enables the manhole itself to serve as an effective safety and fire‑protection measure, thereby maximizing tank integrity. To prevent leaks, strict installation standards must be enforced for quick‑opening manholes, and comprehensive safety procedures should be implemented step by step. The same rigorous requirements apply to the manufacturing process: the mating surfaces of the upper and lower flanges must be perfectly flat, with no unevenness or misalignment. During installation, the manhole should be precisely aligned and tightened evenly to avoid deformation of the cover or uneven stress that could lead to oil leakage. Silicone rubber is commonly used as the sealing material for quick‑opening manholes.

Quick-opening manhole Both pressure rings are internally fitted, in sequence, with pressure strips and wire mesh; an insulating layer is sandwiched between them, forming a plug. The stainless steel manhole ensures effective thermal insulation for high‑temperature media during operation and maintains excellent insulation performance. Moreover, it minimizes the impact of minor high‑temperature medium leaks on maintenance access, enabling stable sealing under high‑temperature conditions and reliable opening and closing when cooled.

Quick-opening manholes are commonly used on oil tanks, and quick‑access inspection ports are also one of the tank’s key components. Therefore, let’s examine the installation and maintenance of quick‑opening manholes for oil tanks. Because these manholes are located at the bottom of the tank, the stainless‑steel inspection ports must withstand substantial liquid pressure; thus, installation quality must meet very stringent requirements to prevent leaks. Sealing grooves are machined into both the flange and the cover—care must be taken during installation to protect these seals, ensuring no oil leakage during operation. Each time a stainless‑steel inspection port is removed, it should be clearly marked to avoid misalignment during reinstallation, which could compromise tightness. When tightening the nuts on the stainless‑steel cover, apply torque evenly in a diagonal pattern to prevent deformation or uneven stress that might lead to oil seepage. Quick‑opening manholes are constructed from pipe sections: smaller sizes consist of a single pipe, while larger ones may be assembled from two or three pipes.
